Pastor's Pen                                                    January 3, 2015

“Will you not watch with me one hour?”

Hours before His betrayal and arrest Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. The horrors of the cross crept near. He knew that soon His soul would be made an offering for sin. He would taste death for every man.

“My soul is exceedingly sorrowful even to death,” He said.

Jesus needed His friends. He asked them to pray with Him as He went a little further to agonize with the Father about the cup He was about to drink. “Stay here and watch with Me.” He returned to find them sleeping. “Could you not watch with Me one hour?”

We live in a dark time. Spiritual deception is advancing at a rapid pace. Violence and unrest covers our world. Jesus is at the Father’s right hand praying for us. He needs His friends...to pray with Him. It seems I hear Him asking, “Can you not watch with Me one hour?”
