The Soon Coming Flaming Inferno
A passionless church is an ineffective church. As we pray for revival in the body of Christ we are asking God to send down His fire again as He did in the days of Elijah. We’re asking for the kind of fire that is impossible to ignore. When the fire fell from heaven on Mount Carmel there was no doubt in any one’s mind that the fire came from God. So convincing was this display of God’s fiery presence that the skeptical “I’m not sure the Lord is God” crowd cried out, “The Lord, He is God. The Lord, He is God!” Oh, how hungry I am to see God so move in our day!
Passion burns with fire. When our hearts are set aflame with passion for Jesus Christ it shows! And when passionate believers aflame with divine love are among other believers their fire is contagious. Like an out of control brush fire the flames literally leap from heart to heart. A few believers connected in a common love for Christ will burn brighter than one would alone and when many believers begin to burn together their flame grows in intensity.
The Adopt-a-Street Prayer Initiative has this as one of its goals. We believe that as believers all over our region catch the vision to cover our region in prayer the potential for an “out of control” burn is possible. Individual flames can become brighter lights when they are with a few others of like passion. And think of the literal inferno that will take place when on street after street and in neighborhood after neighborhood passionate believers find each other and join their flames together! Such combined, focused, fervent prayer will attract the presence and power of God and this heavenly fuel will douse the flames of many hearts creating an inferno that no one will be able to ignore! As you pray for revival, pray for this heavenly inferno to begin to burn in our region soon!
The fulfillment of this God-sized vision to cover our region in prayer begins with individuals. When the vision is cast and the Holy Spirit stirs the heart people will begin to embrace the vision and God will light a passion in their hearts for Christ. And when individuals realize they’re not alone they will be encouraged even more to let their lights shine! Little lights become bigger lights when individual believers find one another and connect together. We will see this happen in neighborhoods, in schools, in places where people work, in the halls of government and in every area of our culture. Passion begets passion. Fire begets fire. Oh God, let Your fire fall again and let it fall on me!
We have seen what man can do. Now, we want to see what God can do! When the Lord is at work and free to pour out His Spirit amazing things take place. We can be the generation that sees God bring His presence and power back to His people and turns things around. He’s done it before! He can do it again!
So let us pray. This is where it all begins. And find others who have a heart to pray and begin praying with them. I have been part of a weekly prayer meeting with other Pastors in our area for nearly five years. I have been part of a weekday 6 am prayer meeting for over three years. I have been part of a weekly noon prayer meeting for more than a year. Being in these prayer meetings has taken my little fire and increased its intensity. I have heard people who visit one of these prayer meetings say, “This was good for my soul.” Some have testified of how their lives have been transformed by being part of such a prayer meeting. I implore you to do the same. Start right away. Find a red-hot prayer meeting and attend it regularly. Start such a prayer gathering in your home, your church or your community. Become part of the soon coming flaming inferno!
