The Power of a Right Choice
It had been two years since they left Egypt . Now the Children of Israel stood peering into the Promised Land. The Lord told them it was their land to possess. They had a choice to make. Believe God and go into the land or shrink back in unbelief. They chose unbelief...and an entire generation of adults (except Joshua and Caleb) would die in the wilderness never to realize the freedom and blessing of the Promised Land. God pronounced to them, “Your little ones whom you said would be victims, I will bring in and they shall know the land which you have despised.”
A wrong life choice has the power to devastate us. A right life choice has the power to bring untold blessing. Now mind you, a blessed life is not an easy life. Hardships and difficulties will come to every life. The question is will I face those hardships and difficulties living with or without the blessing of the Lord? The end result of these two possibilities is a million miles apart.
Every day brings opportunities for choices. Some of those choices will be especially critical to our future and the future of our children. As believers we have the word of God and the Holy Spirit to help us make the right choice at those critical times. As a matter of fact, God Himself orchestrates the circumstances of our critical moments. He sets up the scenario where we are faced with a critical decision. And He is ever present to give us the wisdom to make the choice that honors Him. A life filled with consistent choices that honor God wields great power. Here is an example of the power and influence of such a life.
“I will pour water on him who is thirsty...I will pour My Spirit on your descendants.
They will spring up among the grass like willows by the watercourse.” Isaiah 44:3-4
When I choose to chase after God as a lifestyle I will be showered with God’s refreshing water and my descendants will be rained on with the Holy Spirit! And when enough of God’s people choose to follow hard after Him their generation can see God do unbelievable things.
We live in a critical time in history. Our nation is in great danger. Spiritual deception increases with great rapidity. The powerless church sleeps as our culture heads for hell at breakneck speed. But there is good news. God is calling us to wake up and begin making godly decisions. We can be part of a generation that sees God turn things around with a mighty outpouring of His Spirit. We can give our children the gift of a transformed spiritual landscape. It doesn’t take great intellect or great ability. It simply takes each of us following closely after Christ and making good decisions.
Pursuing Him,
