We’re Getting Close
For over four years I have had the extreme pleasure to sit around a table with other area Pastors to pray and ask God for His mercy and forgiveness and seek His face for revival. It all began for me in 2006 after God brought me through the darkest period of my life. In the midst of brokenness God birthed in me a strong desire for His presence, not only for me but for our church and our region. The manifest presence of God is the glory of God. This is revival.
All of us around this table have sensed that by stripping us down and stripping things away from us God has been teaching us to depend on Him and preparing us for what He is about to do. You see, we’ve been so long without His presence and power that we had become dependent on other things. These things had to be stripped away so that all that is left is Him. If He doesn’t come through and manifest His presence and glory among us we will die. No longer will we look to man-made ideas and human energy to build the church. Now we realize the truth that Jesus so clearly stated that He will build His church and we are eager to see Him do His work. A desperation for God to come that has kept us on our knees before Him leaves us with faith filled expectation.
We are getting close! All that we’ve prayed for is at hand. God is ready to move us forward to reach our region for Christ! He is going to mobilize the army of the Lord and work through us, the body of Christ, to bring His transforming power to our region. Every army must have a battle plan. In the spirit realm this is call a vision. God told the prophet Habakkuk, “Write the vision and make it plain... that he may run who reads it.” Habakkuk 2:2 The vision He has given us for regional transformation is prayer driven and relationally focused rather than event driven and program focused. The prayer driven relationally focused approach has a goal of seeing people become disciples of Christ as compared to the event driven program focused approach which has a goal of seeing people make decisions for Christ. I plan to share specific details about this in my sermon this Sunday.
God has already shown my wife and I that He will back us up and prepare the people in our neighborhoods for what He is calling us to do. As we’ve seen the hand of God working we take heart that He is in the midst and as we mobilize the body of Christ to do the same He will powerfully bless all our efforts.
This is a crucial time for the church. Surely the enemy is opposing and will oppose what God is about to do. We must remember that we are more than conquerers through Him who loves us. Now is not the time to retreat. It is time to advance knowing that years of praying have not been in vain. God has heard us. He is with us and He is for us. He is about to move in a mighty way.
Take heart my brothers and sisters. We’re getting close! Pastor Dan
